In FIFA 19, whenever I alt-tab or switch to new window (no matter playing windowed, full screen or borderless) my game pauses.

The game itself is still running in the background (when you press esc you can hear the sound of it and the sound of clicking and moving).

Located near the top-right of most PC keyboards, sharing the break key (as shown here), the pause key may be used to temporarily halt a computer process.
